Utah Mammoth | Media Day Set

Case Study · Production Designer (Concept, Technical Visualization) · Fall 2025

The Ask...

To design a modular media day backdrop for an NHL franchise entering its first full season under a new identity, built to hold up in broadcast stills and vertical social content from the same setup.

The Need...

Media day moves fast. Dozens of players cycle through in a few hours, each needing a clean, repeatable frame that survives a 9:16 crop and still reads as the team at a glance, without falling back on a logo wall.

The Idea...

The club's marks are drawn from Utah's mountain range and the strata a mammoth gets excavated from. The set turns that into architecture: stacked matte black layers reading as geological section, cut by a single line of light.

The Solution...

A two-wall wrap in Rock Black, layered like sediment, with a continuous LED light box tracing a mountain profile in Mountain Blue. LED tape at the base and high gloss flooring extend the line under the skates and double it in reflection.
